Compression springs lay at the foundation of Sterling Spring's history and with the introduction of CNC technology we have been able to reduce our setup times, improve our ability to meet tight tolerances and increase the versatility of spring shapes and sizes made directly off our machinery. We have the ability to make cylindrical, conical, barrel and magazine compression springs that can be manufactured with closed or open ends with our in-house grinding department prepared to meet all of your spring-end grinding needs. We are equipped to run wire sizes ranging from .003" to over a half an inch in diameter with outside diameter production capabilities that exceed five inches and have no boundaries on the length of your spring.
Sterling Spring's extension spring manufacturing equipment has been through a major expansion to increase the range of wire and spring sizes available for our customers. Our automated looping machinery has vastly improved our efficiency which has helped reduce lead times to maintain competitive pricing. We provide extension springs with machine, crossover or swivel hooks, loops or custom ends that can be extended, reduced, half, double, side or enlarged.
Our customer's options for custom torsion springs are endless with the quality and quantity of open-faced CNC equipment available within our facilities. Sterling's machinists and top of the line equipment can handle the most difficult of torsion and double torsion spring designs. In addition, Sterling Spring can make leaf, garter, power, wave and constant force springs. We are always up for a challenge!
We make springs out of round, square or rectangular wire and can be manufactured with a wide range of spring tempered materials, such as stainless steel, music wire, hard drawn, oil tempered, chrome silicon as well as exotic metals and specialty materials. All of the raw materials purchased by Sterling Spring are certified by our suppliers to the ASTM, AMS or DIN standards required on your print. We purchase RoHS compliant material and DFARS material can be made available upon request.
We work extensively with approved suppliers that can complete your parts with the plating or finish of your choice. From zinc plating to black oxide to Teflon coating, Sterling has a large network of suppliers that provide high quality and timely finishes at an economic price that will be included in your quoted price. Sterling will expedite the service required and will obtain plating certifications based on your print specs for each lot of material sent out of our shop.
As an ISO 9001:2008 and TS 16949:2009 certified company, we take quality seriously, and employ numerous quality measures to ensure your print specifications are attained. Our manufacturing processes meet SAE standards and we are a member of the Chicago Area Spring Manufacturers Institute (CASMI).
